US Powerball Jackpot Reaches Record Heights: $1.3 Billion

Last Saturday’s US Powerball draw marked another rollover in a long series that started back at the beginning of November. The latest Powerball draw’s winning numbers were 16, 19, 32, 34, 57, and Powerball 13. As they did not match the numbers on any ticket, this US lotto’s top prize rolls over to a mind-blowing $1.3 billion.

Such a jackpot certainly makes anyone’s mind start rolling up dreams. The lottery fever is all over the world and it has been so for the last few days. Tickets sell like fresh bread! Last Saturday’s draw sales amounted to a total of $880,642,344. That’s why the jackpot jumped to $700 million, then to $800 million and $900 million to get to a final value of $947.5 million.

The current jackpot is of $1.3 billion and the mount can grow even further until the next set of numbers will be drawn this Wednesday, January 13th 2016.

America’s favourite lotto game, Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. However, if you want to try your luck at this record jackpot, you can do you it even if you don’t live in the US. You can buy your US Powerball ticket online on theLotter with your own lucky numbers. If you want to boost your odds of winning you can also join a syndicate on the site, or participate to this historical draw with a systematic form that allows you to play with all the possible combinations of up to 10 lucky numbers.

This whooping jackpot represents a record not only for Powerball, but for the entire lottery world, ranking as the largest ever all around the globe. The previous record was held by the other American lottery giant, Mega Millions, with an insane $656 million won on three tickets in March 2012. Powerball’s previous record stood at $590.5 million. It was won in May 2013 on a single ticket, whose owner was a then 84 year old woman, Gloria MacKenzie.

At half a billion dollars, last Wednesday’s jackpot was already a top one, being the 6th biggest prize in history and the largest since February 11 2015, when a $564.1 million Powerball prize was shared by three lucky ticket holders coming from North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico.

What would be the cash value of this Saturday’s jackpot? If the amount stays at $1.3 billion, the lucky winner would scoop an awesome $806 million before tax.

The rules of the game were changed in October 2015, and on this occasion, the Powerball officials promised us we will see the top prize reaching the $1 billion threshold real soon. As we can see, they held their promise. Will someone manage to put a stop to this US lotto giant’s rolling streak this Wednesday? We can only wait and see… But, don’t forget to play!
