One Day without Shoes

Today (16 March) Ashton will once again join the international campaign and take up the challenge to go barefoot for a day, in sympathy of the thousands of children across the world who do not have the luxury of a pair of shoes.

They appealed to all students to bring a good pair of second hand shoes to school and in exchange, they will, courtesy of ‘Tekkie Town’ issue anyone participating in this initiative, with a R100 voucher to spend at the Tekkie Town branch in Ballito. Last year Ashton collected 972 pairs of shoes to distribute to those in need and we are hoping on Friday 16 March, to better this number!

What is it?

One Day Without Shoes is the day we raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by going without shoes.

Why?

Millions of children live without shoes. Many are exposed to injury and disease each day, and are not allowed to go to school without shoes.

How does it work?

Just take ‘em off, and when people ask why, tell them. Register at OneDayWithoutShoes.com to get updates. Spreading awareness is easy, and changes lives. The actual day is on the 5th of April but Ashton will be on school holidays that day so they chose to support this worthy cause today (Friday, 16th March), so for those that can remember to support, the 05 April will be No shoes day !!!
