A Journey of Passion and Purpose: The Starting Line

In just under 3 weeks time, Lara Kruiskamp (Ballito resident, adventurer and lover of chocolate) will be embarking on an adventure of a lifetime. She will heading off to Antarctica to run the first of 7 marathons she will be running in 2013 on 7 different continents.

Over the next 9 months she will be making her way to Antarctica, Austria, China, Peru, Zimbabwe, Australia and the USA.

Lara will be the first African woman to achieve this gruelling feat of endurance. Lara is a passionate South African whose goal and life’s mission is to see South Africa restored, by having each and every South African living their unique passion and purpose, reaching their full potential and living a fulfilling and significant life.

She is running around the world to raise funds and awareness for two charities who are themselves making a massive and hugely positive impact on the social geography of our country. These Charities are Liv Village and Vision153.

LIV’s Vision is: To rescue a child, restore a life, raise a leader and release a star.

LIV exists to raise the next generation of leaders in our nation. They place vulnerable, parentless children into a family environment where they receive unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, care and nurturing, and all their physical needs are met.  The village is run and managed with absolute excellence and has had buy-in from the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) government who have embraced the model as they see the benefit to the country. The LIV vision is to see thousands of these villages around SA which will hugely impact our country by decreasing the number of orphans on the streets, increasing job creation, decreasing crime, increasing education levels and see the next generation of leaders emerge from these villages! It’s truly a special place with remarkable change happening in the lives of the children and mothers on a daily basis.

Vision 153’s vision is to “Make a difference, fight poverty and change a life”.

Vision 153 is a North Coast, KZN initiative. Although still in its infancy they are feeding and clothing widows and orphans of the North Coast on a daily basis with the vision to start a village on the North Coast using the same principles as LIV village.

This is just the beginning of an epic adventure so watch this space for updates on each race. If you would like to be a part of this journey you can donate to the cause and help change a life.

We wish Lara all of the very bestest on her adventure, and we’ll definitely keep you updated on her progress.
