Sheffield sinkhole swallows buggy

A 10m sinkhole swallowed up a buggy on Saturday night, injuring four people.

They were travelling through Sheffield during heavy rain, approaching the intersection of Colwyn and Sheffield Drives when the vehicle slipped into the hole.

The passengers sustained facial injuries.

The road has been closed and will be re-opened when the hole has been repaired; please drive carefully in that area.

I was the driver of the beach buggy that was engulfed on sheffield drive … I never believed that that night could be my last when we plunged into that whole, I really hope something will be done about this because I wouldn’t wish that feeling on my worst enemy … The road was constructed poorly and a neighbour came to speak to us after the accident, he is an engineer and he said told city council that that road would give away at the first rain shower and no body listened until we ended up falling down the whole … we are really lucky to be alive .. If pictures of us are needed while we were in the whole that night they can be provided
