La Piazza’s delicious Chef’s Table a huge success

Crocodile, ostrich and quail…usually reserved for National Geographic, yes? No.

IMG_8392 (Medium)Those delicacies were placed on stunningly presented plates and served at the La Piazza Chef’s Table in Ballito last night.

Organised by The Mags Brand, the Chef’s Table brought together representatives from key media houses in Ballito; everyone around one table sampling once-off gourmet dishes by La Piazza’s enigmatic head Chef John.

Chef John Mc Ardle, who worked for the infamous Gordon Ramsey for two years, put on a scintillating food show and regaled media with stories from his days under the notoriously hot-tempered chef.

_MG_0294 (Medium)Dishes on the menu ranged from crocodile carpaccio with a sweet balsamic reduction, seared ostrich tar-tar with caviar and a poached quail egg to Norwegian salmon and rack of lamb with cauliflower puree.

The desserts were the stars of the show: limoncello tiramisu with roasted almond and blueberry ice cream and a toffee cheesecake on dark chocolate soil.

Guests were treated to a front-row seat to the kitchen; Chef John had a camera strapped to his forehead!

Hats off to La Piazza – a truly enjoyable evening of fine dining.
