Edusport Travel is the brains and the brawn behind the much anticipate Ballito Street Heroes event coming to KwaZulu-Natal on 14 and 15 September. The turbo charged weekend of supercars and burning rubber is just the latest in a long list of prestigious events Edusport have been involved with over the last two decades, and is one the company is particularly proud to be running.
“Edusport has been in business for over 20 years. Whilst the focus of the business has been travel in the past, Edusport has been involved with and exposed to a great number of world class events around the world,” said Edusport’s general manager of events, Greg Jones.
“In addition, Edusport’s highly capable event team also has extensive experience running events locally and nationally. This combined pool of events knowledge sets Edusport apart from many others in the industry.”
Edusport has been involved in some of the biggest events in the country, and were official agents for major sporting spectacles such as the Rugby World Cups in 2003, 2007, and 2011; the Cricket World Cups in the same years; the Cathay Pacific HSBC Hong Kong Sevens since 1997; the Dubai Sevens since 2012; and are currently appointed as Exclusive Sales Agent of MATCH Hospitality in South Africa for the sale of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ OFFICIAL HOSPITALITY PROGRAMME.
They have now taken this vast experience and channelled it into events like Ballito Street Heroes.
“Edusport is really excited about the opportunities that are available in the events industry at the moment,” said Jones. “Events driven tourism benefits so many different entities – local businesses, the tourism industry, and residents.
“Time and time again it has been proven that events that attract visitors to a region results in a massive boost to the local economy. Edusport believes that identifying and staging these events that attract visitors to a region can result in long lasting, mutually beneficial relationships.”
With Edusport Travel offering multi-focused services such as event management, hospitality, conferences and product launches, sports tours, and wellness travel, hosting its own events fit right into their culture of improving their service offering at every opportunity they get.
“Edusport looks for events that are sustainable, provide benefit for all involved, and that have a strong enough appeal to attract visitors locally and from elsewhere in the country,” added Jones.
