Profile Friday : Dr Hannes Scheepers

Meet Dr Hannes Scheepers. The newest member to the well known ‘Cosmetic and Dental Emporium’ family and recently a resident to our buzzing town. Dr Scheepers is very passionate about his work, loves the town he now calls home and can’t wait to help the community with all their dental needs.

What do you do for a living?

I am a Dentist at The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium, Ballito, situated in the San Hall Office Park across from Alberlito Hospital.

I qualified from the University of Pretoria, after which I completed my Community Service year in Nelspruit.

I know we’re probably not the most liked profession of all, but that’s just one of the challenges of Dentistry that I like. Its more than just treating teeth, you’re treating the patient as a whole and in the end when the patient is happy, that means that you as a Dentist can be happy.

The passion for Dentistry started at school when I was assisting a Maxillo Facial & Oral Surgeon, seeing how in combination with dentistry you could change the overall appearance of a patient, through surgical and cosmetic procedures to obtain aesthetic excellence. And that is what drives me day in and day out, to be a perfectionist in my profession and to reconstruct aesthetic excellence, with ethical and honest work as my foundation. A beautiful smile can do so much more than just lighten up a face; it can light up a soul.

How long have you stayed/worked in Ballito?

I’ve only been living in Ballito for about a month and a half now, so still settling in to the coastal life. I was born and raised in Pretoria and recently moved down due to a very good job opportunity at the The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium, Ballito. One that I definitely couldn’t resist. The main reason for the move was probably because of the job, but I’d lie if I said I didn’t fancy moving down here for all the other things Ballito has to offer.

What would be your favourite place to have a good meal in Ballito?

For lunch, I’d have to go for Zara’s Café, awesome food.

For supper, there are a lot of good places but the two that stand out for me is Beira Alta and Mozambik. Two completely different vibes, so depends on what vibe you in.

Best place for sun-downers in Ballito, on a Friday afternoon, after a hectic week?

Beach bums. Always good to have a cocktail on the beach after a busy week, eases you into the weekend.

Your top 3 venues or places in and around Ballito?

Mama G’s, damn they have good pizza.

Salt Rock Beach, I’ve only been there once, but it’s pretty nice I must say.

Zimbali/Hilltop Estate (“Home for now”)

Name 3 places where you would take an international guest or out of town friend in South Africa?

Cape Town – Cape Peninsula, Winelands and of course the mountain that looks like a Table

Knysna – everything in and around Knysna is just beautiful

Kruger National Park.

What is your best spot to get away from it all less than 2 hours away from home?

Basically to any good restaurant for some good food and a bottle of wine.

If you could have any 3 people around for a splash-out meal at your home, who would you invite?

Will Ferrell, Jeremy Clarkson and Mila Kunis.

Who would you like to see profiled on Profile Fridays?

Would have been really interesting to have had ex-convict Andre Stander profiled. But since he’s dead I’d have to go for one of my good mates, Andre de Oliveira, busy doing his Masters in Architecture.
