African Matahari : Selling Secrets – Placing the North Coast on the “Fashion Map”

  • On 01/03/2011

Join St Lukes on March 11th (Friday) at 11am, for a day of Intrigue, Entertainment & Fashion secrets. This year’s fundraiser for North Coast’s – St Luke’s Home of Healing, is going to be a Fashion Show with a statement. St Luke’s Home of Healing, situated in Kearsney – KZN North Coast, is a unique haven of peace and tranquility for the physically and mentally challenged. It is a home away from home, a place where people with varied disabilities can be nurtured, loved and kept busy.

St Luke’s was established in 1945 and falls under the auspices of the Department of Mental Health.  The home receives a small state subsidy which does not cover the enormous costs of running and maintaining such a facility. The home is therefore largely dependant on donations from local business and the private sector in order to keep its “head above water”.

St Luke’s draws its inspiration from the enthusiasm and generosity of it’s many friends and is sustained by the goodwill showered by its Benefactors. Its rewards are the illuminated faces and bright, toothy smiles which ooze appreciation for everything that has been so generously given.

Our ‘Showcasing Designer’ is Sipho Tembe of Ostra Designs. Sipho resides in Kwadukuza. Julia Cronje will be our ‘Guest Designer’. Julia was recently awarded “Most Commercial Range” at last year’s DUT Annual Fashion Show. Our ‘Guest Speaker’ is none other than “The Fashion Nanny”, Sabrina Maingard.

Our venue is the beautiful Ebandla Hotel & Conference Centre in Ballito (for directions visit: Tickets are R250 ea and include a 3 course luncheon and are available from Cara Dunlop on 082 851 2683 or Jeannie Habig on 083 627 5359. For more on St Luke’s Home of Healing visit
