New: Profile Friday with Ballito’s Peter Cameron

We’ve come up with a new idea here at Ballito News. We think we have some of the best people in the world living on the North Coast and so we’d decide to have a “Profile Friday” every Friday, where we interview people who have a passion for life, love Ballito and are making their mark in their own unique way.

Our very first Profile Friday is with Peter Cameron, an energetic guy who is Marketing and Sales Director of Sheffield Manor, and when he’s not working he’s passionate about Rugby!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m Peter Cameron , 32 , born in Pietermaritzburg, went to Maritzburg College (proud old boy) , my parents are semi retired on our family farm in Creighton- my favourite place to get away and relax. I am married to the beautiful Jody  Cameron– she is also involved in property and I have a 7 month old baby girl Coco- who now runs our lives.

My passions are rugby, rugby and rugby – I played in Europe for 3 years (England , Ireland and Scotland ). I was a scrumhalf and still love the game . My best mate is the springbok flyhalf so I have become a professional arm chair analyst. Besides rugby I am passionate about my country and have been involved in Shakashead feeding scheme which has now turned into a centre to help the community. I also am in a poker club that Craig Davidson (ex sharks player)  and I run – its one of the highlights of the month, where I get to have a few beers with my mates and talk a bit of nonsense.

What do you do for a living? If you run a business tell us a little about it.

I am the Marketing and Sales Director at Sheffield Manor – a 10ha  residential estate that is giving people an opportunity to live in a secure estate with a whole host of amenities at an affordable price. Along with my head salesmen Devon Delange and the rest of our team we are trying to create a fresh and creative way to sell and market property on the north coast. We have a few new projects in the pipeline after Sheffield Manor that are really exciting – so watch this space!!! I am very ambitious and want to heal the world , sell out lots of developments and live a happy and healthy life.

How long have you stayed on the North Coast?

I have been on the north coast for 6 years but have been coming here for 25 years on holiday. Having an Irish mother I could live anywhere in the world because of the opportunities the passport offers , but choose to live here as I love the ocean, chilled lifestyle, humility of the people and the potential of the region.

Tell us something we may not know about you. Your biggest fear/ An exciting hobby/something interesting ?

I am in the planning stage of doing a pilot TV show that will help tramps by giving them a second chance in life, reunite them with loved ones , get them back on there feet- but that’s all I can say as maybe my hobby/passion  will become what I do on a daily basis!

What is your best place to get away from it all less than 2 hours away from home?

My favourite places to spend a weekend away are anywhere in the midlands , Phinda and Umgazi River Bungalows.

Favorite place to have a good meal on the North Coast?

My favourite place to eat on the north coast is Mozambik restaurant – chicken and calamari combo !

Best place for sun-downers on the North Coast, on a Friday afternoon after a hectic week?

Best place for sundowners on a Friday afternoon is Canelands beach club in Salt Rock – on the beach and the best views in town.

Your top 3 places on the KZN North Coast.

My favourite places – Simbithi golf course (nice and short but challenging) , Salt Rock main beach early in the morning and hanging out at the Zimbali pools with friends and my little family.

If you could have 3 people around for a splash-out meal at your home, who would you invite ?

Dinner for 3 : Nelson Mandela – the saviour of our country, Ard Matthews from Just Jinger for entertainment and John Allan( ex Scottish and Springbok rugby player) so he can tell us the story when Scotland beat England in 1990 and how the team went to a local pub with “50 000” people and celebrated till the early hours of the morning.

Who would you like to see profiled on Profile Fridays ?

Patricia Lewis (lives in Zimbali ) she has an aura about, lights up a room and has a big heart, John Slater from Slater property – he seems to have the right idea on how to give people their dream homes, Ard Mathews – good friend of mine who sang at my wedding – he has a home here and is the most soulful person I have met.

Thanks for sharing Peter…we look forward to hearing about you end up healing the world!

Happy Friday everyone…
